The game is on and James and Roger are totally willing of playing.
‘Monday’ pushes on the accelerator and floods us with numerous details and, of course, a new unexpected body. Rita, twice, demonstrates to be fundamental for our heroes; the first opportunity looms on the horizon when she has to investigate on Ivonne and Justin lives. Rita impeccably unravels the connection between them. Ivonne and Justin – even though the readers knew already – were under psychological treatment again. The finding of Justin’s Oyster card and Ivonne’s tube tickets – even though, I have to admit, may lack of realism – reveals that they both regularly travelled to Marble Arch. The destiny wanted that James had picked up a dirty business card in the ‘Don’s den’ which was readily and thoroughly analysed by our Rita. Of course, she discovers where and whom it belongs; an associated studio of psychological consultancy just a few minutes from the said station. Another important event happens: James and Roger meet Mark for the first time. What happens is…no, let me finish to praise Rita. The second opportunity subsequently appears when the two detectives need to gathered information about Doctor Heisemberg (Mark, for them who haven’ read the chapter). She is exquisite again in providing what they need. Well done, Rita! If you were my favourite, now I’m definitely in love with you. (I shouldn’t say that, because Roger may hear me. Have you noticed the unexpected compliment he says to her? Perhaps, love is in the air?) In the alleged Heisemberg’s dwelling, James and Roger realise that something is really wrong. An abandoned house, a fake doctor, a hidden notebook, a postcard, and a new-found body make this case more than demanding. The assumptions James, Roger and Rita make seem to be thrilling and scaring: Heisemberg would be Gregor, a patient with serious psychological problems and a tendency to personify other identities – if you thought that he had only taken the doctor identity, think again. A terrible fire and a subsequent weird situation at the hospital appear to confirm that. But interrogatives bug us: whose is the body in the house? What was she doing? Unfortunately, this is not the right time for answering to these doubts! I hinted James and Roger met Mark/Heisemberg. It’s quick and harsh, and it ends with Mark’s apparent victory. Don’t worry, justice will have its course. What happened to Don? He carries on his personal hunt. Don – thanks to Ivonne’s journal – finds Mark’s office and then his personal address. Don flies to Mark’s house for cornering him. He wants the killer to confess his terrible wrong-doings. Sympathy for Don. And a huge respect and admiration for Gimmy; he’s our second hero. Gimmy believes in his friendship with Don, and he is deeply fond of him. Although he wants Don to give up his revenge, he grudgingly let him go, because he realises that friendship means to be close to a friend even when you disagree with him. We like them, don’t we? We want Don to win this challenge, don’t we? Yeah, we want. The destiny apparently - or the author of the novella (chuckle) – prefers to render things a little bit more complicated: Mark captures Don. We don’t know what will happen to him. Will he survive? Will he get out of Mark’s house? If you want to discover how the mystery goes on, the new chapter “Tuesday” is now available on Wattpad for free.
